Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, September 10, 2024: IBM (NYSE: IBM) introduces its enterprise studio, watsonx.ai, and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority’s (SDAIA) open-source (with optional AUP) Arabic Large Language Model (LLM) — ‘ALLaM’ — to the Kingdom’s DEEM Cloud platform. The collaboration with SDAIA is geared toward enhancing the offering of DEEM’s cloud technologies and empowering Saudi government entities in their AI transformation journey.

With the addition of watsonx.ai and ALLaM, DEEM Cloud will be able to provide access to fully managed Generative AI platform services to tune, validate, deploy and infer generative and traditional AI models with a seamless end-to-end Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) process.

The introduction of IBM watsonx.ai to DEEM Cloud is designed to empower the Kingdom’s authorities, organizations and government entities to unlock the full potential of their data and work with even greater agility, efficiency, and trust.

This announcement builds upon SDAIA’s ongoing collaboration with IBM to expand the reach and possibilities of Arabic LLMs through the availability of ALLaM on watsonx. Today, enterprises and government entities can deploy Arabic generative AI with unprecedented convenience, security, and peace of mind to accomplish their objectives.

“As a global technology and consulting company fully committed to serving as a partner of choice to the Kingdom and driving its digital transformation, we are very pleased to have partnered with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority,” said Ayman AlRashed, Regional Vice President, IBM Saudi Arabia. “Over the years, we have developed a comprehensive suite of AI offerings uniquely geared towards adding value to the people, entities and businesses we support. By leveraging watsonx, we aim to prime the Kingdom’s government entities for sustainable success, supporting them to make the most of their data.”

Ultimately, watsonx will assist Saudi government authorities and entities to build customized AI services that are adaptable, scalable and simple to use. watsonx supports quick and straightforward deployment, representing the fastest way to introduce AI to government entities. Additionally, it demands low- to no-code skills, making it scalable and accessible to government entities without an in-house AI developer or programmer.

The collaboration is subject to the parties reaching definitive agreements.
