Hamilton Ratshefola serves as General Manager for IBM Southern Africa, where he is responsible for leading an executive team to ensure the business growth, ecosystem development and advancement of local talent for IBM in 13 countries.
With over 20 years’ experience in the technology industry and a long standing track record with IBM, Ratshefola’s global experience and local expertise uniquely equips him to lead the business in this region, a strategic market for African growth for IBM.
Ratshefola started his career as a graduate hire with IBM in 1990. Working as a mainframe Systems Engineer in the banking and retail environment before moving into Sales for IBM in 1993. He rapidly moved into management and industry leadership and was sent on developments assignments with IBM in the United Kingdom, Italy, Denmark and the United States.
In 2000, Ratshefola co-founded Cornastone, an IBM Business Partner. Ratshefola rejoined IBM South Africa in June 2013 to lead the company’s sales efforts in South Africa.
He has been instrumental in leading the transformation of IBM South Africa’s focus on disruptive technologies including Big Data & Analytics and cloud technologies to solve key local challenges such as improving government services, digitizing banking services, enhancing customer centricity in telecommunications.
Ratshefola has a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology, Business Economics and Accounting from the University of the North West.
