Babacar Kane
Babacar Kane is the General Manager and Technology Leader of IBM Africa Growth Markets.
Babacar has 24 years of IT experience and is based in Dakar, Senegal. In 2014, Babacar was the IBM General Manager for Senegal & West African States and played an instrumental role in building a new brand team aligned with IBM’s strategy, which was adopted to support emerging countries in West Africa and the francophone countries in the region.
Babacar started his early leadership career as Integration and Services Director with the Orange Group, covering West Africa’s French-speaking area. Afterwards, he joined Hewlett-Packard as General Manager for West Africa’s French-speaking territory and Oracle as Regional Sales Applications Director, covering West and Central Africa.
Babacar was elected Vice President of The American Chamber of Commerce in December 2016. He is also part of the Manager Champion Group (2018 alumni), where he leverages his expertise in enhancing IBMer experiences and helping transform the role of people managers across the company. As a certified IBM Sales Professional, he is passionate about mentorship and currently nurtures future sales managers and leaders.
Babacar holds an M.Sc. in IT & Telecom from the Technology University of Troyes, France.
Outside of work, Babacar enjoys spending time with his family and close friends. He has been married for nearly 20 years and is the proud father of 4. He enjoys discovering new books on history, traveling, meeting people, and exploring different cultures worldwide.
